They call it βRace Across the Sky.β
I lined up at 10,200 feet in the thin Colorado air⦠staring down the start line of the Leadville 100.
104 miles.
Over 11,000 feet of climbing.
All at high altitude, where your lungs burn before your legs even do.
They call it βRace Across the Sky.β
I call it the day everything changed.
It was surreal.
The execution?
Nearly perfectβ¦ except for the cramps, head games, and the occasional βWhat on earth am I doing here?β moments.
But I crossed that finish line.
And in that moment, I realizedβthis wasnβt just a race.
It was a turning point.
Just weeks before, a βnew sheriffβ at my corporate job told me I couldnβt take the 3 weeks off Iβd planned for this family adventure.
So I made a decision:
I quit.
Walked away from the βsafeβ road.
Went all in on me.
I didnβt know where that road would leadβ¦
But I knew I wasnβt meant to keep following a path that didnβt excite me.
Looking back, Iβve always been that way:
Finished my degree online before it was common
Worked from home long before Zoom was a thing
Homeschooled our kids when most thought we were crazy
Short cross-country races were fun, but I craved something bigger, harder, riskier.
Endurance racing hooked me instantly.
And Leadville?
That was my Everest.
My year of training looked like this:
- 3,400 miles pedaled β basically from Maine to the West Coast
- 243 hours β six 40-hour work weeks
- 223,000 feet climbed β just shy of summiting Everest 8 times

That race taught me something I carry into everything now:
- Life is an endurance event.
- The road less traveled isnβt comfortable, but itβs where you discover what youβre made of.
Itβs where you find your faith, your grit, your resilience.
We live onceβdonβt take your dreams to the grave.
Live filthy rich in Faith, Adventure, Laughter, Health, Family, and Love. The finances will follow.
Today, my race looks different.
Itβs building a business with lasting impact and legacy.
And Iβm here to guide othersβfellow Championsβdown their road less traveled.
So⦠what about you?
Are you ready to take the leap?
To pedal into the unknown and trust that youβll find yourself along the way?
P.S. During that race, I had 3 envelopes with different finish scenarios. I achieved the βmiddleβ one.
The top envelope? Labeled βWell Done.β
Do I go back for it?
